Veteran’s Day means a lot to everyone at Duke Cannon. And that’s because Veterans themselves mean a heck of a lot to us. So today, as we (along with our friends from HyVee) happily engage in our annual tradition of providing breakfast and camaraderie to some of the distinguished men and women in our area who have served, we encourage everyone to take a moment to remember those who have given their spirit, energy, and even their lives to their country. Below are just some of the Veteran’s causes we’ve been honored to support this past year (enabled by your support of our products, so thank you); we would encourage you all to consider doing the same.
PROJECT GOT YOUR BACK
Everything is right there in the name of this organization. Project Got Your Back connects Veterans with vital legal, health, employment services and more. Their simple but noble mission is to optimize veteran well-being and ensure connection.
MISSION 22
Mission 22 understands that veterans need help now. That’s why they’ve developed a comprehensive approach of outreach, events, and programs to promote long-term wellness for Veterans and their families.
TEAM RUBICON
Purpose. Community. Identity. Team Rubicon restores these things for Veterans once they leave active duty by developing teams for deployment across the United States and around the world to provide immediate relief to those impacted by disasters and humanitarian crises.
OPERATION HOMEFRONT
Operation Homefront’s mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive—not simply struggle to get by—in the communities that they’ve worked so hard to protect.
FOLDS OF HONOR
Since 2007, Folds of Honor has provided life-changing scholarships to the spouses and children of America’s fallen or disabled military. And now, they’re mission expands to the families of America’s first responders. On their watch, those who protect freedom will know they are not forgotten.
THE GARY SINISE FOUNDATION
Founded by actor and philanthropist Gary Sinise, the Gary Sinise Foundation honors our defenders, veterans, first responders and their families by creating and supporting unique programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen, and build communities, including adaptive smart homes for wounded Veterans. Lieutenant Dan would be proud.
